Orfeus í undirheimum was written for the music composition competition of Erkitíð 2022; Icelandic Electronic Music Festival. The frame for the composition was to write an entirely electronic soundpiece inspired by the music of Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson.
Orfeus í Undirheimum was inspired by Euridice by Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson, which tells the Greek story of when Orpheus venture into the underworld in hope of saving Euridice and bringing her back to the world of the living. Orfeus í Undirheimum is almost entirely synthesiser based but the inspiration is a flute concerto, which begs for the question of how one translates an instrumental concerto to the electronic field? Does the concerto structure stand? Does the synthesiser imitate the flute or is it allowed to be a mere synth, risking a sound which references pop music more than classical?
Orfeus í Undirheimum won first place in the Erkitíð composition competition.

Sound design for IS THIS STILL BERLIN?, a photographic field research project by Antonia Leicht, which was exhibited in Aktionshaus and in PhMuseum, Berlin in 2023. The project explores the borders of Berlin in photographs as well as in sound.
Using field recordings that Antonia Leicht gathered during her research, a looping sound piece was made, in which one hears the clashes of different worlds; people bathing in lakes, construction sites, autobahn, birds, etc.. All aspects that form the clash of worlds which are the city borders of Berlin. Visitors could access the sound through a QR code that randomly chooses where in the piece the listener starts to hear, there is no start nor finish.

IUVENILIS (2021) is a studio album released under the artist name Iðunn Iuvenilis. It can be described as experimental pop, made under the strange surroundings of Berlin during the COVID pandemic. The isolation and uncertainty guided the creative process of the album, resulting in an honestly hesitant sound.
IUVENILIS was made with a grant from the national broadcasting services in Iceland (RÚV).

Nightvision (Náttsýn) is a 22-minute electroacoustic sound piece made for a surround setup, accompanied by four videos intended for surround viewing. It is a coming of age piece, told through signature nightmares of four different stages in life.
Nightvision was exhibited as a black box installation in Harpa, Reykjavík concert hall, with surround audio and video.

SUNNEFA is a soundpiece composed for the 2019 summer exhibition of Fljótsdalshérað Culture Centre. The exhibition told the true story of Sunnefa Jónsdóttir (1723) who was twice sentenced to death by drowning, but lived under her sentence for 19 years, until she died due to poor conditions as a prisoner/slave.
SUNNEFA was made for a quadraphonic setup. The main materials where vocals (representing Sunnefa and other women who received a death sentence as a result of pregnancy) and field recordings of water (the threat, women in Iceland were executed by drowning).
SUNNEFA won first place in the UN Women Iceland 2019 art competition.
Composition, vocals, production, mixing: Iðunn Snædís
Mastering: Curver Thoroddsen
Backstory: Little is known about the circumstances under which Sunnefa became pregnant, at the age of 16 and 19. However, it may be concluded that on both occasions she was forced to declare her younger brother as the father of the children leading to their death sentence.
The purpose of the exhibition was to bring to light the injustice that working class women faced in Iceland, which serves as a foundation for many of the misogynistic patterns we still face in modern society. It was also an attempt to bring Sunnefa slight justice.

Requiem of Patience (2019) fantasises about losing one’s patience.
